Privacy Policy

Last updated: By The Pavement Desk

This policy explains what personal information AsphaltPavingIndex handles, how we use it, and the choices you have. AsphaltPavingIndex covers the Greater Toronto Areaand is operated from Ontario, Canada. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Effective date: September 7, 2026.

What information does AsphaltPavingIndex collect?

Almost none. AsphaltPavingIndex is a directory you read. There is one optional quote form, no contact form, no sign-up and no account, so there is nothing here to submit to us. The cost calculators are the one place on the site where you type anything, and what you type stays on your own device: the arithmetic runs inside your browser, none of the measurements or figures you enter are sent to us or to anyone else, and nothing is kept once you close the tab. If you email the address on the contact page, we hold that message only for as long as it takes to deal with your request. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs, including your IP address and browser type, to keep the site online and secure, and Google Analytics counts visits. The cookies section below says exactly what that sets and how to stop it.

How does AsphaltPavingIndex use it?

Anything you send us is used only to answer you. We do not sell personal information, we share nothing with the businesses listed on this site except what you send through the quote form, and we do not use it for advertising. Server logs are used only for security, troubleshooting and preventing abuse.

Does AsphaltPavingIndex contact the businesses on your behalf?

No, and this is worth stating plainly. AsphaltPavingIndex does not pass your details to anyone. When you find a business here you contact it yourself, using the phone number or website on its profile. Anything you then tell that business is between you and them, under their own privacy practices. We are not part of that conversation and never see it.

Does AsphaltPavingIndex use cookies or analytics?

Yes, one of each. AsphaltPavingIndex loads Google Analytics 4 to count visits, and that sets two cookies in your browser, named _ga and _ga_J45X0X0HNQ. Measured in a browser on this site, both are set to expire 400 days out, which is the longest a modern browser will keep a cookie, and you can clear them sooner. They hold a randomly generated number that lets Google tell one browser from another, so we can see how many people read a page and which pages they arrive on. We use it to understand traffic, and it is not used to work out who you are: no name, no email and no account is attached to it, and nothing on this site asks you for any of those.

There are no advertising pixels here and no remarketing tags, so nothing on this site builds an ad profile of you. If you would rather not be counted, you can block or delete cookies for this site in your browser settings, use private browsing, or install Google's own Analytics opt-out add-on, which turns the tag off on every site that uses it. Blocking it changes nothing about what you can read here. Our host may also set what is strictly necessary to serve the pages. This section was wrong until August 19, 2026: it said the site ran no analytics and set no cookies, while the tag was already loading. That is corrected here rather than quietly reworded.

How does AsphaltPavingIndex handle business listing data?

Our directory lists businesses using public information: company names, addresses, phone numbers, and the ratings, review text and photos published on their Google Business Profiles. This is public business data, not private personal data, and none of it originates with us. If you own or represent a listed business and want the listing corrected or removed, the contact page sets out that process in full: the address to write to, what to include, and what happens to the record. A removal takes the listing off this site only. The reviews and photos remain Google's, on the Google Business Profile they came from, and changing what appears there is done through Google.

What are your privacy rights under PIPEDA?

Under PIPEDA you can ask what personal information AsphaltPavingIndex holds about you, request a copy, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent to our use of it. In practice, unless you have written to us, we hold nothing about you beyond the server logs our host keeps and the visit counts described above, neither of which carries your name. Requests are made through the process on the contact page, and we respond within a reasonable time.

How does AsphaltPavingIndex comply with CASL?

Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) governs commercial email. AsphaltPavingIndex sends no marketing email, no newsletters and no promotional blasts, and it has no mailing list to add you to. If you write to us, we reply to you and nothing more. If optional marketing email is ever introduced, it will be strictly opt-in with a clear unsubscribe link in every message, as CASL requires.

Who else receives this, and is it stored outside Canada?

Three companies other than us are involved, and they are named here rather than left as “our providers”. The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps the server logs described above. Google receives the analytics described in the cookies section. Email you send to the address on the contact page is delivered by Forward Email, the mail provider for this domain, into a mailbox hosted by Google. Between them that means your visit, and anything you choose to write to us, is stored outside Canada, including in the United States, where local law may permit authorities to access it. Nobody else is in this picture: there is no advertising network, no customer database, no mailing list and no data broker, we do not sell personal information, and we do not pass it to the businesses listed on this site.

On how long it is kept: we keep correspondence only as long as it takes to handle the request and any follow-up, and there is nothing else for us to keep, because the site has no database of visitors and collects nothing else directly. The two analytics cookies are set to expire 400 days out and you can clear them sooner. How long Vercel holds its server logs, and how long Google keeps its own copy of the analytics data, are set by those companies under their own retention schedules rather than by us, and we cannot shorten them on your behalf. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect what we hold, though no method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure.

How do I contact AsphaltPavingIndex about privacy?

Privacy questions and requests go through the same route as corrections and removals: write to corrections@asphaltpavingindex.ca, which is a monitored mailbox read by a person, and the only address this site publishes. The contact page sets out what to include. If we make material changes to this policy, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date. Please also review our terms of service, which govern your use of AsphaltPavingIndex.

What happens to what I send through the quote form?

If you fill in the quote form, we pass your name, contact details and your description of the job to one company listed in your area, so they can quote the work. One company, never a list, and never a pool of firms bidding against each other for you. The form will not send until you tick the box that says so, and that tick is recorded with the date and the exact sentence you agreed to. If you change your mind afterwards, write to us and we will delete what you sent.

Nothing else about you goes anywhere. Reading this site sends nobody anything.AsphaltPavingIndex sells no leads and no company can buy a better position: the order on every list comes from a published formula. When you call a company from a profile here, that call goes straight to the company, and we are not told it happened.
